East Valley School District is located in Yakima County, Washington, just east of the City of Yakima. It encompasses the City of Moxee and portions of the unincorporated county, including the Terrace Heights community. The resident population of the East Valley School District is over 17,000. Our community has continued to experience significant growth in residential, educational (Pacific Northwest University), business, and industry over the past 10 years.

East Valley is primarily rural, situated in a valley surrounded by agriculture. Known as the hop production capital of the state and home to bountiful crops and vineyards, agri-tourism thrives. With abundant outdoor activities (hiking, biking, camping, skiing, and more) less than an hour away and four full seasons, East Valley’s central location makes it an ideal place to call home.

Principal's Message

Dear East Valley Central Community,

I am excited to begin my 13th year in the East Valley School District and my 26th year in education. Throughout my career, I have been passionate about creating learning environments where all students feel supported, challenged, and inspired to reach their full potential.

As principal of East Valley Central Middle School, I look forward to continuing to work alongside our students, families, and staff to provide a rigorous and engaging educational experience. I believe that strong relationships, high expectations, and a commitment to continuous growth help students develop the skills and confidence they need to be successful both in school and beyond.

During the 2026-27 school year, EVC will continue to focus on ensuring that students receive the support they need to be successful academically, socially, and emotionally. We recognize that families play a critical role in a child's education, and we are grateful for the partnership and support of our parents and guardians. When schools and families work together, students benefit from a stronger foundation for success.

This year, we will place a continued emphasis on academic rigor, challenging students to think critically, persevere through difficult tasks, and achieve at high levels. At the same time, we will continue our efforts to create a learning environment that is safe, welcoming, and conducive to learning. We want every student to feel connected, supported, and valued as a member of our school community.

I am proud to be part of the East Valley community and look forward to working together to ensure that all students can thrive while preparing themselves for future opportunities and endeavors. Together, we will continue building a school culture that promotes excellence, growth, and success for every student.

With Appreciation,

Eric Hevland
Principal
